How it works

Three steps. Thirty seconds.

From the moment your kit arrives to the first deep breath of the night. A complete walkthrough — including how to find your size, how to apply, how to care for your band, and what to do if something feels off.

01 / Application

The full walkthrough, step by step.

Take your time the first night. Once you've found your size and learned the press, application becomes a 30-second habit you do without thinking — somewhere between brushing your teeth and turning off the light.

i.

Find your fit.

Your kit ships with four bands — Small, Medium, Large, Extra-Large — designed to fit 99% of adult noses. The right size feels like nothing once worn. The wrong size feels too tight (pinching) or too loose (slips with movement).

To find yours, fit each unworn band gently over your nostrils as a "bull-ring test" — like jewellery, not adhesion. The smallest band that touches both nostril openings without pressing them closed is yours.

Tip

Most users land on M or L. If you're between sizes, choose the larger one — the magnetic anchoring compensates for slight looseness, while too-tight is uncomfortable for nightly wear.

ii.

Prep the skin.

Skin oils and moisturisers are the number-one reason adhesives fail. One alcohol-free micellar prep wipe (included in your kit) clears the placement area in 10 seconds. Pat dry. That's it.

If you wear moisturiser, sunscreen, or makeup during the day, prep is essential. If you've just washed your face, you may still want to prep for maximum hold — the residue of even gentle cleansers can reduce adhesion by 30%.

Tip

Prep both placement spots — one on each side of the nose, just below where the nostril meets the cheek. The tabs anchor to skin, not cartilage.

iii.

Apply the band.

Press a fresh adhesive tab firmly to each side of your nose — hold each for a full 10 seconds. The band then clicks into the tabs magnetically. You'll feel the first deep breath open within seconds of the magnetic seat.

Wear through the night. Side sleepers, hot climates, and humid summer rooms are all fine — the magnetic anchoring was specifically engineered for that range. In the morning, lift the band off (tabs stay on skin), then gently peel each tab. Discard tabs; the band returns to your case.

Tip

The first wearing may feel slightly odd — like noticing your tongue in your mouth. By night three, you'll forget the band is there. Eight in ten new users describe the first morning as "the most rested I've woken up in years."

02 / Sizing

Four sizes. One is yours.

Every Starter Kit includes all four sizes so you can find your fit on the first night. Replacement single-size bands are available once you know yours.

S
16–18mm

Narrow nasal valve. Common in younger adults and some women.

XL
22–24mm

Broader nasal structure. About 8% of our users land here.

Between sizes?

Choose the larger one. Magnetic anchoring compensates for looseness; tight is uncomfortable for nightly wear. If neither size feels right after a week, write to support — we'll send a custom intermediate size at no charge.

03 / Care & cleaning

Made to be worn. Easy to keep.

Aira is a daily object, like a wristwatch or a wedding ring. It asks for very little — but the little it asks keeps it performing at full strength for the full six-month life of each band.

Daily care.

A 10-second rinse keeps the band ready for tonight.

  • Rinse under cool running water after each removal — skin oils, makeup residue, sweat.
  • Pat dry with a clean towel; never twist or wring the band.
  • Return to the embossed case between wearings. The case keeps dust off the magnetic contact points.
  • Avoid hot water (above 60°C / 140°F), alcohol-based cleaners, and direct sunlight.

Deep clean.

Once a week, or when the band feels slightly tacky.

  • Soak the band in a small bowl of warm soapy water (mild hand soap, fragrance-free) for two minutes.
  • Gently rub the silicone surfaces with your fingertips. No brushes, no abrasives.
  • Rinse thoroughly under cool water until all soap is gone.
  • Air-dry on a clean surface for 10 minutes before returning to the case.
When to replace

The tabs are single-use — replace after every wear. Your Starter Kit includes 30 tabs (one month at nightly wear). The band itself lasts approximately six months of nightly wear before the magnetic anchoring weakens. Subscribers receive automatic band replacement reminders at the six-month mark.

04 / Troubleshooting

If something feels off.

Most issues resolve within the first three nights as your skin adjusts to the adhesive. Here are the five most common questions from new users.

Almost always a skin-prep issue. Wash the placement area with mild fragrance-free soap and water (not just a swipe), pat completely dry, then use the prep wipe. Apply tabs to clean dry skin and press for a full 10 seconds — don't rush this. If your kit shipped during humid weather, store the unopened tabs in a cool dry place; humidity weakens the adhesive over time.
Mild redness in the first three nights is normal as your skin learns to interface with the adhesive — it usually fades within an hour of removal. Persistent redness or any itching means pause for two nights, then try again with a longer prep wipe. If irritation continues, contact support; we'll issue a full refund regardless of trial window. The adhesive is hypoallergenic and latex-free, but some skin types simply don't tolerate any adhesive long-term.
You're wearing a band one size too small. Try the next size up — bull-ring test it before applying. If you're already on XL and still feel tightness, write to support; we offer a custom intermediate (XL+) sizing at no charge for the ~2% of users beyond the standard range.
Give it a full week. Most users notice the first deep breath within seconds, but some take 3–5 nights to feel the cumulative sleep-quality difference because the brain needs time to recalibrate to the new oxygen baseline. If a full week passes with no measurable change in sleep, snoring, or daytime alertness, you're likely in the ~9% of users for whom external nasal dilation isn't the solution — a sleep clinic referral may be more useful. Either way, our 90-day refund applies.
Yes — Aira was originally engineered for performance athletes. Apply before training. The magnetic anchoring holds through sweat, helmets, and high-intensity sessions. The only sports we don't recommend are water sports (the adhesive can't fully overcome chlorinated pool water) and contact sports involving direct facial impact (boxing, MMA, rugby front rows).
